Transfers

Fixing Instructions

Varnish fix type – to identify these the transfer side of the duplex paper is in reverse.

  1. Divide the duplex paper at the corner leaving enough to grip the backing paper between thumb and forefinger.
  2. Paint over the surface of the transfer with a transfer fine brush – just the character, not the whole tissue area – with quick drying varnish, which should be tacky (semi dry) in 5-10 minutes.
  3. Place face down on the model being very careful to position accurately. Press well down and peel off the thick backing paper.
  4. Allow at least 24 hours to dry completely. Dampen the tissue and carefully peel off adding more water if required. Lightly sponge over the transfer surface to remove any excess gum.
  5. For extra protection varnish over the transfer when perfectly dry.

Water slide type – with these the transfer is the right way round as you look at it.

  1. Simply soak the whole transfer in a dish of cold water until the transfer starts to separate.
  2. Slide the transfer from the backing paper accurately into position removing excess moisture with a sponge and allow to dry.
  3. For extra protection varnish over the transfer when perfectly dry.
